My heart aches. It’s ached all day off and on. I took a nap in the middle of the day because I was tired. Kobi tucked me in and kissed my cheek and sang to me while I napped.
In between the nap, we had breakfast, we played with balloons, built a fort, went swimming, went to Chick-fil-a, and Dunkin and made the most of the day. We tried to say yes to Kobi all day and it was pretty fun well at least for me, because I feel like I’m always saying no.
Things felt different this year. Maybe because Kiwi Hannah is five and that seems like such a milestone birthday! It just hit me differently. Like it’s been 5 years! It took us 5 years to even get pregnant with her, so for her to be gone for 5 years after the fact, just seems like a lifetime has passed!
There are so many things I want to say, and feel the need to say but I don’t have the energy, not today. Just know that we celebrated Big Sister Day the best we could!
Today Kiwi would have been 4 years old. I only cried once around the time she was born, 5:34 in the morning. I also sang happy birthday to her then as well.
We slept in a little, got up and got Kobi registered for a pre school type program 2 days a week, then Big Sister Day commenced. We played in our play room, ate pizza for lunch, went bowling for the first time as a family (it was a huge success) came home took naps got up went out for ice cream and had more pizza for dinner.
It was both low key and celebratory at the same time. I miss Kiwi so much, but I am so thankful for all the good things that I was able to recognize throughout the week. Like the girls volleyball team that I coach winning their game, finding out that several people share the same birthday as Kiwi, getting offered a job position that I really wanted, receiving praise reports of answered prayers, and being able to spend time with my family.
I am also so grateful for people checking up on me, and praying me through this week! Y’all definitely lifted the burden.
Kiwi Hannah, mommy, daddy and sissy love you so much and hope you had an extra special really awesome day with Jesus, Cylis, Tegan, Kyle, and all the others. I look forward to seeing you in my dreams and of course when we get to heaven!
We have celebrated Christmas for the last few years with some great friends but this year they moved across the country and so we were left with a dilemma… What to do for Christmas? After talking it over and checking the budget we decided at the last minute to spend Christmas in Las Vegas with said friends and bonus we had my mom come up so she could finally meet Kobi! It was such a wonderful and much needed time away and time with family! Oh and I got to see one of my oldest friends after 10 years too! We went to the Hoover Dam, and to Red Rock Canyon, and ate really great food all cooked by Holly herself!
Kobi’s first Christmas was great! We snuggled in bed then she sat and listened to her daddy read the Bible explaining the Christmas story and she loved all the paper and actually played with a few toys! She was super exhausted after opening most everything but definitely needed food and a nap before continuing. William and I had a few surprises for each other which was nice because we already knew what we wanted. We decided to remember Kiwi by wearing matching Christmas socks because it’s something simple and we can continue to do that for years to come. And the highlight was seeing my mom interact with Kobi!! It’s been a long time coming and it was definitely my Christmas Miracle!! I hope each of you reading this had a wonderful Christmas celebration. Thanks for your continued reading!
I decided that I was going to celebrate Mother’s Day at the last-minute because I needed to acknowledge for myself that I too could celebrate this day… I took a suggestion from one of my Facebook friends and went to a park, spent the day there, did a balloon release, flew a kite, and we ended up going to Sonic where I opened my gifts. We decided that every year we are going to go to Sonic and open my gifts there lol… we don’t ever do anything regular so why should be start now!! I did get some workout gear and a pedicure too!!
Did I mention we did this all on Saturday because today was a work day at church for us? And it was all for the better because today absolutely sucked!! I cried more than I wanted to. My eyes are sore and feel bruised and I am exhausted. The day is done and I survived… with many tears and lots of prayers my first Mother’s Day is now behind me.
Thank you to everyone who wished me a Happy Mother’s Day and to those who prayed me through this day I pray that God blesses you in a new way for the love you showed me. Thank you all for your support and love.
Jesus, William, and Kiwi, thank you for making me a mom!!
So this Christmas I came across this wonderful idea to surprise my husband with a special 12 days of Christmas just for him… I found it on the blog passionate homemaker click here to see her ideas and her blog on her family tradition.
It gave me some great ideas… pretty much she said on each day she gives her husband something according to whatever day they are on… So for the 12 days leading up to Christmas I left my husband little gifts around the house that said things like this
And like this
full of fun things like six black socks, and two panera pastries, each day became a new and exciting thing… Eventually he came to expect that he was gonna get something but it didn’t change my desire to give him the gifts…
As the new year approaches I have decided that my resolution is to become a better more well rounded wife to my husband. I don’t quite know what that will look like but I am going to do my best to fulfill his needs and wants and to really learn what it means to be a Godly wife. It may seem a bit old-fashion but I’m okay with that because I know that whatever I am going to learn from this will benefit my marriage in the long run and thereby becoming a complete win-win situation. Plus if God is for our marriage it’s about time I learn what He has to say about it…
